چکیده

This paper presents a GPS receiver satellite/antenna selection algorithm for the Stanford Gravity Probe B Relativity Mission. A Trimble Advanced Navigation Sensor Vector receiver onboard the space vehicle, a fourantenna six-channel GPS receiver, will provide real-time navigation solutions for orbit trim and raw measurements for ground post-processing, both for more accurate position and velocity and for attitude solutions. The GPS receiver satellite/antenna selection algorithm will determine the visibility of GPS satellites and assign a satellite and a master antenna to each receiver channel in order to maintain signal tracking. In this paper a new four-step GPS satellite selection algorithm is presented, which shows good performance with much less computations compared to the conventional algorithms. The smooth transfer between subsequent GPS satellite sets is also considered in the algorithm, such that continuity of the navigation data is maintained. The antenna selection algorithm is designed to maximize the signal to noise ratio of each master antenna. This paper also presents simulation results of performance comparisons of this new algorithm with conventional algorithms.

Geosynchronous Satellite Use of GPS

The purpose of this study was to determine the accuracy of GPS use for a geosynchronous (GEO) satellite. Current missions at GEO altitude mainly use traditional ranging for orbit determination. With changing mission requirements and the increase in the number of GEO missions, utilizing GPS signals is becoming an increasingly attractive alternative for position and timing determination. A previo...

Validation of a Controlled Reception Pattern Antenna (CRPA) Receiver Built from Inexpensive General-purpose Elements During Several Live Jamming Test Campaigns

The Controlled Reception Pattern Antenna (CRPA) is an effective approach for rejecting radio frequency interference. Conventionally, the dedicated CRPA antenna and hardware are usually precisely manufactured and calibrated carefully. The computational/processing requirement is always a major challenge for implementing a CRPA receiver. Even more demanding would be to incorporate the flexibility ...

Testing of Adaptive Beamsteering for Interference Rejection in GNSS Receivers

In this work space-time adaptive processing algorithms for interference rejection in a GNSS receiver are tested under experimental conditions with recorded signals generated by a powerful hardware signal generator. Two space-time adaptive processing algorithms are tested which are implemented in the Stanford University GPS multi-antenna space-time adaptive software receiver. The Multi-output Ad...
